Ry Cooder's stories on LA gave me a perspective on the city I grew up in, but had little idea of the history itself. From the Pachuco Boogie to the trio in the chapter, there is a suave lifestyle that one has to actively find nowadays.
I thought of the girl "con los ojos verdes", and I imagined the narrator in Los Angeles stories meeting a girl, making the most of the city of angels, and kssing. For the piece I played with the background one night, adding some warm colors to emphasize the warm weather. However, on my next layer, I worked on the buildings based on a picture of 1950s Los Angeles, including the city hall.
Musica de trio is romantic, and flirty, thus drawing the couple kissing. After working on the couple, I cut the piece in three to represent the recurring theme of threes in the story and the week: Los Trios, the three Mexican doctors, the three genres of music mentioned in the chapter, and other things listed in threes.
